Pitch counts look fine except for a kid throwing 121 and 123 in the span of two days. One kid threw 113 in one game.

So why does it always go to pitch count? The thought that another great team does it doesn’t make it right. People are crazy that they can’t congratulate a team for having a successful weekend in a brutal tournament. Unless you son plays on the team, why worry about their pitch count. There is probably no other team in MD that could have pulled off that performance with 11 or 12 kids. That tournament should be played Memorial Day weekend when kids are more stretched out, one of the first tournaments of the year makes it pretty tough without 15-16 on the roster. If your son does play on that team and you come here to complain about pitches thrown instead of talking to coaches, you may be part of the problem. Congrats to Gambrills on a great weekend. Showed a lot of grit and determination to go 0-2 and fight all the way back to get into the championship.

Seriously?? Scientific studies performed by leading authorities in sports performance and orthopedics have shown us the data for decades now on why pitch count is important.
Gambrills, and specifically this team, has a bad rap on overusing their pitchers. That's why this forum calls them out.

Well Fake Mr.Blades, I was not saying pitch counts don’t matter, I was clearly stating that because a team did well, the pitch count ninjas come out. Worry about your own team. If you don’t like how Gambills uses their pitchers, don’t have your son play for them. What does taking shots at them in a message board do?

Ok, let's sweep it under the rug and allow the bad coaching to continue. Does that make you feel better? You really think 121 and 123 pitches in less than 24 hours is ok?

Not for my son, but guess what, I doubt it was your son either. But I am sure you are enjoying your cold beer, taking shots at other baseball teams on a forum to make you feel better about yourself

What’s funnier is their bad coaching beats your good coaching anytime you play.

What’s funnier is their bad coaching beats your good coaching anytime you play. You hit the nail on the head. Notice ppl ALWAYS have something to say about Gambrills? Either it’s about winning a “ B “ tournament. “ Steve “ being loud. Or “ Juan” doing something , they always have something to say. Its the ones who speak so loud who are getting their A*** cracked by Gambrills. Bunch of hating A** dads who wish their kids were in a spot to throw 113 pitching in a game to make a difference..... No here comes the typical “ Nice post Steve “ comments. Get off their D**** and worry about your own team who couldn’t last a day in their shoes. Bunch of Dad Bod losers.

"dads who wish their kids were in a spot to throw 113 pitching in a game to make a difference"
What difference do you think it makes, Steve? Runner up in a youth baseball tournament and threw 113 pitches in one game. What was it worth? The possibility of winning a tournament that only has sentimental value to Gambrills? I'm not sure why you feel as if a youth baseball tournament is so important. Were there college and pro scouts in attendance? Does the team get to advance to some super regional/national tournament? What's the risk/reward of having that kid throw 113 in one game? Please help us understand the difference it made.
News flash, no one cares if you win, place 2nd, 3rd, or go 0-4. At the end of the day, the experiences we make are what matters. The example we set for the kids is what matters. The coaching staff showed they care more about winning (for a moment), than they do about the arm health of a youth baseball player.

Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT STEVE SARAUILLO OR ANY OTHER PARENT OR COACH OF GAMBRILLS
Fact is Gambrills was put in a bad spot in this tournament. 8 games in 2 days with a possible 9th IF game is a crazy format. I know the coaches over there and trust me, they went into the weekend with very modest expectations. One coach I saw Friday night at the hotel told me that they would be happy to just to compete given thier tough draw. However, the kids had other ideas. After a rough start, they just kept battling and kept winning against STACKED teams. I was there to check out the last 2 games at RF&P Stadium after we were eliminated in our age bracket. The Gambrills kid who pitched against the Stars was not one of their top pitchers. He was one of the only kids with innings left on the mound. He flat out dominated the Stars and hit his spots, he was rolling. The kid who pitched the championship is not a pitcher. In fact I was told that he hasn't pitched in a few years. Now if they would have run their #1 or #2 who were pushed to the limit on Saturday, that would have been wrong. Not trophy chasers in my opinion, just a crazy touney format that bit them in the arse.
Ok, we can all move on now and focus on our own teams. Losers.
