It’s called capitalism. As the age groups get older less and less teams are elite. Actually most are average. Any team can go play in top competition, but the reality is they don’t. PG is crap unless a national event or Super25. USSSA is a rec ball haven. Ripken which once was great gets garbage teams. SATB is a bigger joke with short porches. I see teams records and laugh, 57-12, 47-8, etc….if you justify baseball success on record you have a rude awakening in HS. If you are worried about poaching get a grip and look in the mirror. Most of you never played above Hs and have no clue.

Lee Blades chews them up and spits them out. Ask Jack. Please tell me how we chewed jack up and spit him out? Jack wasn’t cut from Gambrills he was offered a spot back on the team and elected not to return. Jack wasn’t recruited to Gambrills either. I can name 1 kid who was actually recruited to Gambrills. Get your facts right before you come on a public forum running your mouth and not know what happened. So where is jack gonna go?

Jack went to Elkridge Wish the kid nothing but the best as he has one of the best work ethics I have ever seen. Kid works so hard and analyzes everything. Elkridge is lucky to have gained a great young man!

Is it the tournaments fault or the fault of so many parents who have created this business of baseball where everyone feels their kid is entitled to play travel baseball. Unfortunately someone messed up any chance of having perfect game events in Maryland. Unless you can afford to travel every week to Georgia or farther south you are stuck playing so many local tournaments. There are some very competitive tournaments that aren’t PG like the Triple Crown in VA and the Triple Crown Cap City in Pittsburgh. Not to many mucks there.

A major part of the problem is that GAC is a community organization. The dads/coaches there treat it as if they are trying to compete at a national level. They have cut community kids after recruiting from neighboring organizations. Note- this is not a business. You are supposed to coach the kids up. Develop them not recruit so you can replace them. I hear the board of directors are talking about this issue. Totally different story if you are a for profit organization.

1980 wants their shirt back. There are plenty of Gambrills kids that can play for gorc, crofton, or any other club if they either don’t want to or dont make Gambrills.. All the feeder orgs like severna park are nonprofit and have travel teams with kids from all over. You’re a tool with no knowledge and part of the parent issue. So GAC is to fault themselves for being very competitive on a regional level? You make no sense. They have had just 2 teams recently in the past 10 that are bonofide legit. The other teams were average. Olney is the same way. Some years awesome, some average…..kids don’t all live in Olney

Pretty sure GAC has developed enough boys going to Dematha, Gilman, Spalding, Indian Creek, etc. You need to be well rounded, have good grades, and be a good ball player to play there. Go back to your shanty.

It’s ok to recruit a kid from outside of your community to take a spot of a kid that been with your program for multiple years? In a community organization

Yes, it’s travel ball. That’s why teams have tryouts. What if that kid you speak of regardless of playing ability is a prick and not a good teammate? What if his parents are A Holes? What if he isn’t committed to practices, workouts, etc?

Good players leave good teams every year look at the NCAA transfer portal, there are over 3 thousand players for baseball alone.
The problem with travel baseball is the parents.
Go back to the 90s there were 6-8 legit travel teams across the state. Now every parent feels their little guy deserves to play on a travel team, that’s why EVERY community has a travel team. Who cares what community you live in or play for play for what team/ coach or coaches make you better and pushes you to the next level.
Stop worrying about winning so many games and tournaments worry about competing against the best and preparing for the next level.
