Find on a team with clear expectations.
Hopefully you are able to get a coach with playing or coaching experience. If you can get both then even better.
Find a team that actually practices the fundamentals of the game. Not just batting practice and ground-balls. Find a coach that explains the “why”
Find a team that is local. This makes it much easier to make all of the practices. If your coach lets you play positions that mom or dad think you should play then practice is the place to prove it. Make it obvious by every other player what your roll on the team is.
