Coaches and parents,
What are your thoughts on preseason rankings?
I think it is hard to rank 9u, as teams are just forming- the staff will take a wait and see approach probably until late April.
10-12u - preseason rankings will be released by March 1st. If you know of any changes to teams- new teams, coaching changes, players shifting around that would make a difference to the top 10 or so teams; reply and tell us your thoughts
13u and 14u - these age groups are often making changes; 12u teams will evolve or 12u teams dissolve. At these ages players often move around. We feel waiting might be for the best. We want your input; what are you hearing or know about changes to top players and teams?

The 9U Manchester BlueSox from last year are the 10U Carroll Rebels this year. Not saying we should be ranked-just putting it out there. If last year’s 9U Linganore (LOUYAA) stayed together for 10U, they will be solid. Other great teams we faced in 2018- AYRA Olney Buccaneers White Marsh (Joppatowne now?)
Some teams we didn’t play that I am sure are awesome- HCYP (both) Lake shore Sykesville

There is good quality baseball at the 11u level above the beltway. For a team that has numerous wins against top 10 teams to not be ranked destroys the credibility of the rankings. Looking forward to a very competitive season.

Looking forward to a very competitive season. So who is the team? They probably will be ranked in the top 10 of the rankings if they beat other top 10 teams. I think i read it correctly that the rankings will be out 3/1/19. So if you want the team to be considered, probably best to let the admins know what team it is.

Update 11u Manchester Blue Sox (10u 2018) are RBA Royals now. Same coach, same players, a couple of guest/expanded roster kids for big-venue events (4 to 8 game venues) just working with another coach in the PA area on that and partnering in a positive way to integrate kids and give them some extra opportunities where appropriate. Don't care where we rank, goal is to just play top 10 talent from MD and all of the states we travel to this season and beyond and let the kids keep developing and growing in love of the game. Shout out to Tide, Lake Shore A, Hickory Black, MA Red Sox, Olney Pirates, Gambrills and Elkridge Orange at our age group all of them belong in top 10 unless teams or coaches have dramatically changed for some reason. Always fun to play and learn from. Good luck this season everyone...most of our tourneys are invite and/or regional we will be at a few in state and hope to see everyone around the diamond! (if I missed any shout outs it's non-intentional...we saw a lot of really good teams from NJ, PA, VA last season as well but this is just MD ranks)

I am Div I scout that lives in the Mid Atlantic area and have a nephew that plays in the 13U age group. I have anomalously watched many teams in that age group and would rank them the following way:
13U
Team Name Wins / Losses 1) EvoShield 17-0-1 2) Frederick Hustlers 15-2 3) Olney 14-3 4) HCYP 16-5 5) Dig In 15-5-1 6) White Marsh 9-3 7) Lakeshore Graysox 7-4-1 8) Elkridge 9-7-1 9) Warriors BCCC 8-3 10) Rawlings As 7-1

14U Pre-Season 2019: 1.EvoShield Canes 2.Swing XP 3.Mid Maryland United 4.Gambrills Athletics 5.Delmarva Aces 6.Dig In 7.Rawlings A’s 8.API 9.Mid Atlantic Red Sox 10.Calvert Tide Many of these teams are not what you think. Swing XP 14u is not the Swing XP that was very good in the past. Many of those players moved to 15u. The most accurate rankings based upon the last Fall update: 14u 1. EvoShield Canes- Maxwell 2. Rawlings A's Prospects 3. Gambrills Athetics 4. Dig In 5. Team XP 6. Delmarva Aces East 7. Mid-Atlantic Red Sox 8. LF Archers 9. PAL Astros 10. BCC Big Train

I respectfully disagree with the premise of using the Fall as the guide. My observations of this past Fall were the 14U level in MD was not very strong. Teams were mixed/combined etc. In addition, you also need to factor in that many baseball players are not playing Fall baseball due to playing their Fall sport of choice. Some teams didn’t even play a Fall schedule. Many of the teams below have recruited heavily and picked up significant talent. I am sure everyone has “pre-season” opinions, but time will quickly tell. I think you also must factor in “difficulty of schedule”. How many of the teams below are playing outside of MD in top tier tourneys? Would love to see MD teams do well outside of the state winning some tournaments. I am sticking with the below based on what I know. Time will eventually tell. Everything until we have tangible results is pure speculation and opinions:
14U Pre-Season 2019:
1.EvoShield Canes 2.Swing XP 3.Mid Maryland United 4.Gambrills Athletics 5.Delmarva Aces 6.Dig In 7.Rawlings A’s 8.API 9.Mid Atlantic Red Sox 10.Calvert Tide

Sorry for any confusion. My job is to find talent for the college team I scout for. I typically do not watch players until ages 16+ but, I was trying to explain why I was watching the 13U age division. Didn't mean to cause confusion. :-)

I can also see that spell check took over and do a typo in my original post. Meant to say "anonymously" not "anomalously".
