They rarely even play in the same tourneys. Last summer played in same tourney, Hendricks lost in QF, Harkins won Tourney. Couple of common opponents last year. None yet this year.

Thanks for sharing. That would give them a better accomplishment.

BCC Big train 12U beat Gambrills 12U on March 31st. The final score was 8 to 1. BCC should be ranked at second place. I would love to see BCC play against the Pirates.

I always take head to head into consideration first. I think i have the rankings pretty close and a few may move after this weekend.

Dhicks If, as you say, you take head to head in consideration first why would you put BCC below Gambrills?? BCC beat Gambrills, not to mention their overall record is better. Nope-doesn’t make sense.

Pretty sure Hicks has BCC at 2. Maybe u need to go back and read them. As far as records, they mean nothing. Look at who they are playing. Gambrills and Olney play the 2 toughest schedules in 12u. Maybe Mid Atlantic Red Sox as well. Yes, BCC has 2 good pitchers. Take that to Triple Crown or Perfect Game and see how far you get. Olney won the April Triple Crown. Gambrills and Mid Atlantic Red Sox held their own. Records are only as good as who you have played. Gambrills and Olney Strength is schedule far ahead of BCC. Not even close.

Yeah I recommend reading the original post, which has the updated rankings. I have always listed Big Train 2nd. Here is what I base the rankings upon: Rankings based on 1) Head to head wins 2) Common Opponent wins 3) Accomplishments. Record does not factor in, unless it meets any of the criteria mentioned.

I agree with that as well. When it is all said and done (long game) we know which teams will be where in terms of development. Rankings are fun to keep track and aid in the entertainment of playing one another, but have little significance at the youth level. I enjoy it cause I enjoy the research. Rankings done properly with sound research are a good measure. Rankings done poorly based upon bias opinion are worthless.

Side note: If you think the rankings are silly think again. Within the past year, I have had three MIAA coaches ask me where I had certain teams ranked at the 13u (current 14u) level. One coached another 14u team, and the other two were actively recruiting players within their area and wanted to see matchups vs other top teams.

Me criteria is head to head against quality teams, bad loses, road wins against top teams, winning on Sunday (championship or runner up) - head to head on Sunday should be considered more as it's elimination game. Strength of schedule especially for teams that go 17-2 but play light competition

I use the same thing.
Head to head and common opponent take into account strength of schedule. If a team is 17-1 but hasn't played anyone that is both H2H and common opponent. Obviously, winning a tournament and finishing 2nd are accomplishments.
1. Olney Pirates (29-1) 2. Bethesda Big Train (10-0) 3. Mid-Atlantic Red Sox (11-6) 4. HCYP Blue (13-4) 5. Gambrills Athletics (12-5-1)
How does "head to head against quality teams, bad loses, road wins against top teams, winning on Sunday (championship or runner up)" change any of the top 5?
"Here is what I base the rankings upon:
Rankings based on 1) Head to head wins 2) Common Opponent wins 3) Accomplishments.
"Record does not factor, unless it meets any of the criteria mentioned."
