So it’s knee jerk but private teams can play and teams using county fields can only practice? Advantage to private orgs bottom line Not really- even if it’s a private field they are not supposed to be playing games - they are still supposed to follow the guidelines.

Not a lot of private fields either... so it’s really about the ability to play in out-of-state tourneys (where they’re open for baseball). I heard a rumor SATB was considering a lottery because they have to reduce the # of teams to meet the limitations. It would be a bummer if the only available playing opportunities shrink like that.

Teams that are private have had an advantage, they have been able To split the team into 2 groups and practice several times a week, and not break cdc guidelines.
Teams that utilize county fields are just starting to practice. So a month behind Private orgs, to me that’s advantage private orgs all day.
There’s one thing that hasn’t been spoken about and needs to be.
Most of these kids haven’t been throwing like they would during the season. Coaches are gonna see that there’s tournaments opening up and jump in. Well there comes the issue. The kids are not in shape. They came out of winter workouts and got maybe a game or 2 and got shut down again. So you get the green light, and jump into a tourney and Johnny who hasn’t been throwing or isn’t in baseball shape goes out and throws 50 pitches.
I would bet we see more injuries this year than most! I hope not but I can almost guarantee it.

Agree with the concern about arms.
On your other point the governor just okd youth sports on the 29 th. So if a team practiced prior not sure how cdc guidelines were being followed when youth sports were not allowed in the first place
Granted a private field is always an advantage

Well if parents take their kid and a friend or 2 show up to the park, and you decide to get some work in, I don’t think anyone would say anything.

Even following cdc guidelines, private field or not, not sure how anyone was practicing till last Friday when the stay at home directive was lifted. Don’t think that falls under essential travel

Looks like Phase 2 doesn’t do anything for youth baseball.

Phase 1, Stage 2. Not phase 2.

Looks like Phase 2 doesn’t do anything for youth baseball. Sounds like if things go well maybe in late June restrictions on youth sports may be loosened. If you look at CDC (which is just a guideline) next phase for youth sports would be to allow for teams to scrimmage, next phase play against teams from same community and phase after that Travel could be considered. Note they have more phases than the 3 Hogan has. Any way you look at I don’t feel confident travel tournaments happening soon. Best hope we may have in in foreseeable future would be to have local teams play each other. Quite honestly that’s not the worst thing that could happen. Imagine no pressure of a big tournament or worrying about league standings or kids traveling counties away to play baseball. Kids might actually have more fun and would still learn the game.

If you allowed baseball to be open should be all fields open as well. I’m with you guys and if I can do anything for you guys to help let me know. This can’t be happening in baseball right now. Kids lost a lot of time because COVID 19 and we need to get those kids ready back to our fields. Thanks good comments and stuff.
