If the coach is still calling the game for the catcher and you give 3-0 take signs to your batter, someone explain how this is development.

Ur an idiot, there are coaches that still call the game in college and MLB When’s the last time you saw a MLB player give credit to his coach calling the game, it’s the catcher. Also coaches in college and pro ball have jobs to lose if they don’t win. I would bet most volunteer coaches are not getting fired for not winning. |

I think understanding pitch calling is very important for young pitchers and catcher. I think while young someone should call pitchers and there should be a lot of discussion between pitcher, catcher and coach as to what feels best in certain situations and what sequences work against certain hitters. As kids get older, in summer ball they should call their own pitches and learn to get batters out. During the school season it is fine for coaches to call pitches because their job is based off wins and loses. My coach called pitches for me in both high school and college and I learned a lot about sequencing and reading hitters that has helped me become a better pitch caller not only for myself but for teams I've coached.

Ur an idiot, there are coaches that still call the game in college and MLB Actually there is a lot of development happening when you allow your catcher and pitcher call the games. If a coach does it then the players never learn. A coach that calls every game is a coach that is only interested in winning and not teaching his pitchers how to pitch and catchers how to call a game. It's simple. If they mess up have a conversation with them on why they called the pitch they called. Instruct them and let them learn the lesson properly. |
