That’s why police are required to conduct a calibration test prior to and after their shift, so based on what I learned from the Maryland State Trooper yesterday the answer to your question would be yes.
I’m not a traffic cop, i hate writing tickets so yesterday was educational for me also, as I’ve never owned or operated a radar gun as a police officer.
Also watch videos on exit velo it’s where the gun is positioned as to the ball flight.

So the day was rigged for 2025 vs 2026? If all 2026 kids had radar gun what does it matter? Did they use stop watches or electric for the 60?
Maybe the radar guns used were inflated for the 2026’s? Maybe on trackman the velos would be lower?

Was expecting a little more out of some but none the less it was still a solid showing. As stated before their only in 8th grade and have plenty of time to grow and develop. Looking forward to watching the 25&26 clbutt the next few years as there’s plenty of talent in both clbuttes. The recent surge in talent to come out of Maryland will definitely help the future clbuttes, as Maryland isn’t being overlooked as much as we were before. Best of luck to everyone this season and stay safe!

Great job to all that represented at this event. Reading through this it’s almost interesting to hear dads debating about calibration and or what source gives you the right results. Let’s remember that these boys are working hard. If you are a person that tracks your numbers and progress then you already know where you stand. A specific event and devices they use isn’t the end of the world for your player. The top players that showed at this event are all players that are known throughout Maryland. They are role models for everyone else to push themselves and set their own goals. There are definitely studs here in the Maryland area and we need to support them. Again As I have followed many of these boys throughout the years I am very proud of their work and dedication to the game. Remember healthy competition means there is always someone working harder than you in any given moment. Once again job well done to all that showed up!

My son is a 26… he is good, average for his age. He wasn’t as to see where he stands with some of the kids across the state… he has his numbers and knows where he needs to improve. So for him it was a good experience… who cares what device they were using… if all the 26’s used the same device to measure their number than it’s fair…
Have a great season everyone

About half the 2026s in the first group used track man but seemed like PBR panicked because the next group was coming in and didn’t allow everyone to hit off live bp pitcher with trackman. Pitchers it mattered if you pitcher on the mound closer to the wall which was radar gun, the other mound was track man.

I was there this weekend with my 2025-er. My kid had his stats recorded before he even hit. I had to pull teeth and look like a jerk baseball dad to get them to correct this. Then when he finally got to hit, he was hitting off a guy who had no idea how to throw BP. It was SO SO bad.
I went to the PBR Showcase in Baltimore last year, the complex sucked so I wrote it off and tried again this year. I will stick to Perfect Game, by no means perfect, but night and day compared to this crap show.
Oh- and exit velocity off of a tee is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. First, the swing a kid uses to try to generate power off a tee is nowhere near his swing in a game. Plus, how is this telling a coach if the kid can hit a low and away fastball in a tight game to move a runner? What is a kids exit velocity off a real pitcher? Let's measure that. I bet any amount of money that 50% of the kids who generate high numbers on the tee exit velocity, can't hit a curveball to save their life and certainly can't hit velocity.

We will be able to tell how bad the pitches were when the video is released. The PBR staff should never have a problem with finding a good BP pitcher. There are plenty of guys out there and this should be something that should not be an issue.

Great These would be top metrics for an 8th grader to be considered a prospect for d1. Sub 7 60 84+ arm velo on mound 85+ velo bp 80+ infield 85+ oufield 99% will not have those so why go? Wait until it matters and possibly your son has 4 or 5 metrics needed. Hitting one of these won’t matter. Some of 8th graders have already reached their peak. Kids mature at different ages. Also, look up P5 schools and how many 2025 and 2024 kids are committed. Not many. The ones that are committed are on National teams. No 2026 kid around here is…. These are numbers for Druw Jones as a ‘22 top National prospect going to Vanderbilt. Think the numbers for an 8th grader are a little off. PG EVENT RESULTS 90 FB VELO 6.31 60 YARD DASH 1.53 10 YARD SPLIT 93 OF VELO

It’s true He stood behind the L screen and pushed the ball with so much spin it looked like a curve ball then he hit the screen when he threw it multiple times. Coach G was there he throws money bp he should of thrown, but may if exposed some to velo. Some players thrive off low velo but can’t hit a decent fastball.

These events should have a guy grooving fastballs and doing everything they can to find barrels. No excuse for a poor BP pitcher when so much money is spent.
