Anyone expecting any big surprises or certain players to put up some big numbers at PBR’s showcase Saturday at D-Bat?

At least at this showcase PBR won't have them running the 60 down a hallway!! My son slipped and almost went through a wall.
PBR doesn't charge nearly as much as PG, so definitely worth it. D-Bat will be a good spot for this event. They should do more, closer to the season though. Having a kid throw 100% now is is asking for an injury in my opinion. Some just stopped lifting or are still lifting, finishing this month. Not a good way to start the season, with a sore arm that lingers for 3 months.

Is it just to get an indication of how your throw and exit velo/bat speed at 13 or 14 to get a sense of improvement?
Looking at the names going, lots of good, not great ball players. So why?

Do we really need to ask why? This has been debated so many times and people keep going to showcases. If your boy can put up decent numbers then PBR and PG help promote that player, plain and simple. It's marketing, it's the way things are done now. Will a kid with talent still get noticed by a D1 school or possible MLB scout without PBR or PG, sure they will, but it will be a lot harder, take a lot longer, and opportunities could be missed.
PBR is cheap and they do a good job with promoting. PG, not so cheap, but their outdoor showcases held on Spring Training fields in south FL are amazing. So if your boy has the numbers go, if not, stay home and continue to female dog about how showcases are a waste of time and just a money grab.

PBR and PG help promote players??? Kids are in 7th and 8th grade. Both Orgs make money by douches paying.

PBR and PG help promote players??? Kids are in 7th and 8th grade. Both Orgs make money by douches paying. It’s not just about this showcase and the numbers. If the player has great metrics they are invited to the National PBR Future Trials or Freshman Showcase at Lakepoint in Georgia in August which usually brings 300 plus college coaches. Will your kid verbally commit as a Freshman because of it, probably not but may get the attention of a coach and get them started in the recruitment process. 2 Maryland players went last year as 8th graders, both had amazing metrics and played amazing in Georgia. Oh and both have verbally committed to power 5 schools. To everyone said there’s good players but not great going, I would like to know what your opinion of what makes someone great. Looking at the list there’s some ir the best 26’s in the state going. Expect some big numbers to be put up by some 8th graders tomorrow.

Great
These would be top metrics for an 8th grader to be considered a prospect for d1. Sub 7 60 84+ arm velo on mound 85+ velo bp 80+ infield 85+ oufield
99% will not have those so why go? Wait until it matters and possibly your son has 4 or 5 metrics needed. Hitting one of these won’t matter. Some of 8th graders have already reached their peak. Kids mature at different ages. Also, look up P5 schools and how many 2025 and 2024 kids are committed. Not many. The ones that are committed are on National teams. No 2026 kid around here is….

Anyone stand out? The kids I said were good not great but up avg to good #’s. Who made it worth the $? We’re you there? The numbers aren’t even fair. The 25s all got trackman for pitching and hitting. The 26s used a regular gun and most had to hit off a tee for exit velo. The players had numbers on their jersey, then numbers on their hands. Some players numbers were called out and the guys recording said I already have numbers for that player number. If you don’t feel that an 8th grader with bbcor hitting mid to upper 80s is a really good number I have to disagree.

But only 4 kids did that. And not surprised by the 4 that did.

Numbers aren’t fair? Lol. Considering no college coaches were there and could care less what does it matter? Radar guns aren’t reliable now?

Are radar guns as accurate as trackman?
Let me ask you this if you have ever had a speeding ticket, and it wasn’t by laser but by a radar gun what must the cop be able to say he did before and after his or her shift? If ya didn’t know It’s use tuning fork and calibrate the radar gun. I’m sure most guns are purchased thrown around and never tuned.
I didn’t even know this until another dad there yesterday who’s a state trooper brought it up,
I would say trackman is more accurate as it measures to the tenth or a mile per hour.

So on the flipside you are saying radar guns can inflate speeds? Thanks for confirming.
