We were signed up for the Mother's Day tournament which was rained out as well. Lake Shore gave us the option of a full refund or to roll over our registration to the next tournament. Thought that was real nice. Most orgs don't do either of those things.

lake shore complex is very nice and the parents/volunteers did a great job to get fields ready for Saturday play. it just sucked having 4 of the top 10 ranked 9u teams playing there and not getting to play it out. The gowe team looked very good in the one game the played Saturday versus lake shore graysox 9u. gowe had the bats going, and was fun to watch on that 153 foot field. wanted to see them face baltimore or olney. also not shore how lake shore graysox are ranked 9th.

Still no effort whatsoever put in to get fields ready Sunday. They put forth the work for Saturdays games so they could collect money. Once that was done no more effort needed and called the tournament right away. Fields all around were playable Sunday

I mean really tough to watch Lakeshore get bashed as a money grab organization.
Mothers Day Tournament- Rained its butt off Friday evening, could Lakeshore have got fields playable and got 2 games in Saturday and taken everyones money.....yes! But with Sunday calling for 100% chance of rain all day, they cancelled and issued refunds. If they just wanted money they would have got fields playable for Saturday played 2 1.5 hours games and cancelled the rest. I think they took the high road.
Boys of Summer- our team didn't enter but from what people are saying they had volunteers there until 1am to prepare fields for saturday. 1.5 hour games are a common thing for delayed pool play games. Then they got a strong storm roll through around 5PM with more storms coming over night. I don't blame them for not asking volunteers to come back out all night when storms were again possible overnight. Sounds like they are issuing refunds so not sure where the complaints are.

100% chance of rain? 90 degrees and sunny and fields were fine with no rain in the forecast. All other tournaments around had no trouble continuing

But nobody to take care of fields? That combined with a poor refund policy and no effort made to continue tournament is the reason not to return again. Put on a tournament be prepared to put on the tournament not cancel for a brief rainstorm

What doesn’t Lakeshore understand? Is this like 2-3 guys representing the decision or 1 guy?? We drove by Sunday morning and they were fine on the 70 ft fields. I have pictures. Only 1 game in pool play needed to be played on sunday. Explain that.... Actions speak louder than words so if people are that upset let’s see registered numbers next year.

No rain....do you struggle to read? 100% chance on Sunday which it did rain all day during the mothers day tournament. Last weekend no rain Sunday and no effort to continue. Do not put on a tournament if you are not prepared to work for the money. Thats the money grab. Once enough games were played to pocket the money Lake Shore no longer cared to continue. They made their money and they were done so you live and learn and do not return again.

Kevin....
Sorry I don’t know where you figure there was only one pool play game to be played.... there was two(2) pool play games to be completed. The organization even said they had plans of continuing the tournament and kicking us out as we hadn’t completed a pool play game yet.
I agree that games may and that’s a big may of been able to be played, but people need to look at the coaches who worked their butts off til 0100-0200 Saturday morning and then Broomed the fields Saturday night after the first storm, and then stormed again around 11-12 o’clock that night.
You have every right to have an opinion but Darn parents and coaches devoted hours and hours for free, of their own time which their team doesn’t make money from the tournament.
And who ever said a brief storm, it poured and not a light rain a straight downpour for almost an hour. This is after a storm Friday night that went for over an hour that was even harder than Saturday. Then it’s pours over night Saturday into Sunday morning.

I can deal with the storms causing the cancellation...
I want to know why the 10u schedule completely changed from Friday to Saturday??? Teams with early games suddenly had late games and vice versa. Families have plans and other schedules. Not cool.

According to your website "every effort possible will be made to get games in." Unfortunately Lake Shore put forth no effort to try to complete the tournament but say we worked so hard last night we cant do it again tonight. You also made 20k in registration fees but rely on volunteers and coaches for field maintenance and the teams do not get any money for the tournament? Somebody is pocketing a nice chunk of change while everyone else is out registration fees and cost of travel/hotels. If you put on a tournament be prepared to also put in the work not just cancel because you are tired. The tournament was already cancelled before the 11-12 o clock rains came also. This is why I say we would not return again and risk being out money that could have been spent at another tournament that does actually put in the effort to get the games in.
