So Lakeshore had thier Boys of Summer Tourney this past weekend. Had to cancel cause of 5 mins of rain. This is the 2nd Lakeshore Tournament that got canceled this year. 9u was stacked with 4 of the top 10 teams in MD in the 9u bracket. Saturday teams had a 1hr and 30min time limit and some teams only got to play 3 innings. Would have been nice to Watch Shockers, Lakeshore , Baltimore Baseball Club and Olney duke it out for the #1 9u Ranking. With that being said. Someone should put together a top 4 in each age group and hold a round robin tourney. Have a nice weekend cookouts and just have a good time and weekend of baseball. P.S. Lakeshore you should really do something about your fields. Nice complex but fields are complete crap

I agree. Their policy knew if they got two games in Saturday they were not returning any money. There was no effort put forth to continue the tournament. We ended up paying $400 for 4 innings of baseball. I don't see anyway we return to Lakeshore tournaments as this is the second time we have been ripped off.

It’s Lakeshore. What did you expect? Non-baseball folks running that program and travel teams.

It was obviously a money grab. No chance we would return to another Lakeshore tournament if they cannot get fields ready on 90 degree days with sun shining. It seemed like they could not wait to cancel the tournament and did not even want to attempt to get the fields ready for Sunday. Very sad experience to say the least

First let’s be honest there was a lot more than 5 minus of rain. This wasn’t a light rain storm, this was a down pour and this was the second one in Less than 24 hrs. The coaches were there til 1am getting the fields together for it to downpour again.
If I’m not mistaken isn’t every tournament play 2 games and you don’t get money back? If I’m wrong please tell me where a 3 game guarantee has where you don’t get all 3 in you get your money back? I agree the 1:30 min was some , but that’s because everything started late with letting fields to finish drying out.

How can it be a money grab when they are refunding teams fully that didn't play any games and giving partial refunds to teams that played? Do you know the cost that goes into a tournament? If an organization is offering full and partial refunds, they definitely aren't there for a "money grab"

Besides the coaches being there late night on friday they were back by 6ish on saturday. Let's not forget these are volunteers not paid employees. The 1:30 sucks but how do you suggest getting the games in without making some concessions??? It was a downpour on friday and Saturday. Those complaining what tournament(s) have you run?

I agree with Lake Shore experience not being great the past two seasons for multiple reasons. The biggest thing that raised alarm flags for me was the changing of the team draw from Friday to Saturday. They changed all the team matchups in 10u overnight Friday night without any teams dropping out. No real explanation was given.

Would you like to see pics of the fields Sunday morning? The 70 foot fields were perfect. Also, it gets dark at 8:30. The last game for 12u was at 5:00. Hahahahaha Every other tournament in maryland played Sunday. The fields were fine. I have pictures and drove by. You guys must be kidding, right?

And tip our hats to the Lake Shore Crew. They had volunteers at 1:30 in the morning still out working on baseball fields, that's commitment.
For the second time this year, they got smacked down by Mother Nature. it happens, ask Upper Chesapeake, SATB and Annapolis Open among other long standing tournaments. It happens.
It didn't make me happy when LS cancelled, but after the deluge I witnessed and knowing they had already burned out their volunteers Friday night, I completely understood. And I expected it.
If you sign up for tournaments, you will get some rain outs, and lose some money from the refunds. We have had 3 tournaments rained out this year, and each has a published partial refund policy that you see before you sign up.
Throwing out attacks without facts and pouring salt on the wound like the first two comments did is just wrong.
But its the internet, everyone gets their say.
And I agree no one was happy, including the volunteers at LakeShore who gave up so much of their free time, not for the money, but for a fun tournament their kids could play in too.

Instead of apologizing you will defend the baseless decision and confirm to other teams not to sign up in the future. You can keep our money. Hey maybe next year you budget in quick dry and turface??? Which by the way wasn’t needed. Thanks

It was a heavy downpour Saturday evening but it was brief and it did soak the fields. 90 degree days and sunshine Sunday all other tournaments would have continued in my opinion with possibly a brief delay. I think the "money grab" comes from keeping 70% if no games are played and 80% if one game is played. My personal opinion if you put on a tournament you should be prepared to have crews on hand for field maintenance.

Travis...they did use quick dry and turface...which was needed...about 2 pallets worth just from the rain on Friday...but if you've never worked a field you wouldn't know that. Thanks
