Shockers Gaylor definitely need to be considered for #3 in the state. Saw they beat Gambrills and took 2 from Lakeshore earlier this year.
Been a lot of teams that have been beating up on average competition, but can't beat the big boys.
1. Olney (tide may take this soon) 2. Tide (beat stafford warriors 2 times) 3. Mid Atlantic Shockers Gaylor 4. Manchester 5.lakeshore ( barely) 6. Mid Atlantic redsox 7. Delmarva aces 8. Gambrills 9. Hickory 10. Diamond pros ( beat Elkridge and Lakeshore)
This is a very tight age bracket and any team could beat any other in this list on any given day. Game changer is a tough barometer to judge teams on as you can't watch every team every weekend. But from I've seen tide is one of the deepest teams in pitching, Olney is Olney and beat tide 3-1. If tide wins that game they are #1. Olney also plays a weak scheduled compared to tide and lost to Damascus which is unacceptable out of #1 team. both Tide and Olney lost to VA stars which are on a different level. And yes tide lost to Delmarva but one game can't be a judgement when they lost to Gambrills.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Olney's weak schedule consist of all 11u teams? I could be wrong but I would not necessarily call that weak if that is the case. I haven't talked to them, I am just defending them because I believe they play in a league to get in more games, probably develop more players/pitchers, but they opt to play up in 11u (we play some 11u teams as well from southern PA area to do the same thing...we just don't post to GC). Getting beaten by a good 11u pitcher or team once in a while is no reason to claim they shouldn't have the top spot in 10u. I'm not on the forum to argue my teams spot...until we beat Tide and/or Olney more than 50% of the time we are in our rightful spot for sure and I completely agree any given day with the match ups you put together most of these teams can win. But I did want to note that I noticed the comment above and I do believe they play in MC 11u travel league not the 10u. And they are still a half game ahead of Damascus in that league for first place. I wouldn't argue about them being #1 until one of the teams on this list beats them and does so in more than a 1 run game that could be anomaly. Beat them twice and I think someone takes their top spot. Just my .02.

I agree playing 11u can be a challenge but let's be honest, not one of the 11u teams in the Montgomery county league is even considered for the top ten in the state. So just because you play up doesn't mean that you are playing good competition.

You can play up all day and win, it really depends on who you beat....Any wins vs. an 11u team in the top 10??? I agree that would be impressive. Anything less than that is just another game.

The rankings look good. This age group is deep. The tourney at satb last week was terrible besides us, Gambrills, and shockers. One one run on Saturday separated us all. Top seed was set perfect and 2/3 has to dog fight in semis. Gambrills played very well if we both take away the first inning where we both had issues with umpires strike zone and giving northern team any strike but right down the middle and we prob are still playing extra innings. Prob a 3-3 4-4 game. Calvert got number 1 when we played them against Gambrills who I am not taking anything away from because they are a very good team we took a calculated risk and decided to try to save number 1 for shockers if we got there because we knew we would Get number 1 based on the lack of strength in the tourney our 2,3,4 arms are coin flips for us we have 3 that can arguable fit into either spot in depth chart and unfortunately Gambrills had to throw their top an rms against us too. Was a hell of a game they made some unreal plays on defense with multiple runners on to end innings. Was a great dog fight. Can’t wait for this tourney in the future. Solid age group in MD for years to come.

I agree re: great age group with tons of talent. I still submit that there have to be 1 or 2 teams in MG travel 11u league that have 1 or 2 pretty solid top end 11u pitchers (top of pack teams in the league, best 1 or 2 players on those teams). If they throw them against Olney 10u (Pirates) it's reasonable that Olney has a loss now and then against those teams and is still a top flight 10u team #1. More importantly, hopefully good coaching will keep these boys on our respective teams together to compete for years to come and the pop-up teams will not steal players due to parents looking for greener grbutt. Would be really nice to see these teams all make a nice run at each other and make one another better/stronger for the next 4 to 6 years. As far as our weekend, we went to NJ USABL - it was not great competition (live and learn I talked to some top NJ teams and they told me come to Diamond Nation with them next time...so for all of you other guys take that advice if you want upper crust in NJ tourneys). MABA level at best - middle of the pack A-level in MABA (again, at best). Each team we faced from NJ or NY had 3 to 4 good players and 1 or 2 strong pitchers (who they all pitched against us due to not knowing us, and coaches pitched those kids 150 pitches for the weekend, sadly). As noted, it was not strong. But I am posting our results here nonetheless. We were 4-0 winning the championship (USABL) and gave up 2 runs (I think we scored 42 or 44). Used 9 pitchers from our team. Nobody on our squad ever throws more than 75 pitches in a weekend but in this case I think we had nobody throw more than 50...most of top guys threw like 30 or less. Now we have to go play an 11u scrimmage to get ready for real baseball again this weekend! Good luck to all of you guys heading into LL circuit and others doing July tourneys. I'll be happy to report back how the tourneys out in Bridgeport/Morgantown WV (competition) are later in July as well.

One positive was this was an all USA bat only tourney so learning how to score runs when your thumpers cannot hit the ball 250 feet with the USSA bats was a plus. We bought those bats and had not used them much at all this year. Up north at least in USABL they enforce this year already. The boys quickly learned that a gapper or a line drive was required...clearing the OF heads by 50 feet was not the norm with these bats. They are very much like the BBCOR in terms of flight of the ball off of them (just like that 13u to 14u transition year) even when a kid really gets into one with the right swing plane and sweet spot.

Been able to view some very good baseball the past two weekends. SATB saw White Marsh take MAS-Gaylor to extra innings with “California Rules” with MAS ultimately winning. White Marsh can be a tough out depending on which team shows up. This past weekend saw White Marsh Win the USSSA Turf Wars II Tournament in Elkridge by beating Gambrills twice, once in pool play 6-2 and again in the Championship 15-3. It’s a shame that some of these teams stop playing for the year beginning in July as there is still plenty of baseball to play.

Gambrills though only loosing 9 games all season definitely loosing 2 to White Marsh almost guarantees that they are #10 or lower. You can win 30 games against ok competition and loose 9 to good and doesn't mean you deserve to be in the conversation of top 10.

I just think gambrills is highly overrated. Looking at their schedule, they haven't really beat anyone that good, except elkridge. Not really sure how white marsh went into extras with MAS Gaylor, they pretty much got smoked by diamond pros and MAS Lambrose in pool play at SATB, gambrills wasn't that good last year either. Don't think they should be in top 10 consideration

Yes, White Marsh did get beat and beat bad against MAS-Lambrose and Diamond Pros, they played a very solid game against MAS-Gaylor in the Semi-Finals. Members of MAS-Lambrose even commented how much of a different team White Marsh looked like. WM held there own against Marlton NJ at Maple Zone and eventually knocked them out of the tournament. They also played very well against Lakeshore earlier in the season losing 8-7. Part of White Marsh’s problem is playing in a very limited field in the CRAB League, 5 teams I believe and a majority of their games were against Hickory who they beat 2 out of 3 times this year and the Maryland Orioles. Eventually playing the same teams over and over you learn each other’s weaknesses. Granted WM did get blown out by Olney. I think if you take the WM team you saw in the Quarter and Semi’s at SATB and the squad that won Turf Wars they could potentially hang with just about anyone. They have a few good players who are only going to get better, a good middle infield combo of Lentz and Pietz (spelling??) 2nd and shortstop respectively, both can pitch as well. I believe Lentz went 6 innings under 50 pitches against Gambrills in Pool Play at Turf Wars and Pietz slugged 2 homers, pitched well and plays solid D. Also have a good Catcher, Hull, who appears to be above the rest when it comes to framing, receiving pitches, he also showed his athleticism at SATB by making a few great catches behind the plate. He can also hit for Power ( 2 homers at Turf Wars) and was a monster at the plate against MAS-Gaylor.
