If I had a son on the current team, there is no chance I would return for the 13u season. You are basically bringing in kids to potentially take another kids spot on the team during the season. Maybe you are looking for guest players, who knows. I would like to think that having different kids at every practice would definitely have an impact on team morale. But are you really worried about the team morale or just recruiting enough kids to win championships? From what I have seen, most teams have try-outs at the end of their season, not mid-season. Sit back and watch the blow-up

They’re worried about getting enough players to ride the bench AND cover tournament costs.
Also Palacios isn’t listed on Spalding’s page as a coach. Just at API.

Since everyone seems so concerned about how Gambrills is running their program, I will address some of the statements made.
First we have not had a single complaint from a parent or player, reference players coming out to open workouts. None of our players playing time has been affected by this. We run a structured practice, and every player gets plenty of reps offensively and defensively. When you run a structured practice, where down time is almost non existent, adding 1-2 players to a practice does not affect your rostered players reps, or 1 on 1 work.
Also by offering open workouts for perspective players it allows us to see how a player may play over a period of time not just on two or three days of 3 hours each. In the original post, it clearly states when our official tryout dates are.
This year is totally different than any other due to covid. Some teams just folded their season or are playing and practicing a minimal schedule. By having open workouts it also gets players that are interested in trying out, reps that they may not be getting with their main team, if that team is not playing at all or playing a very minimal schedule. This allows those players the opportunity to get some quality reps and have a fair shot to try out. No kid will be able to show up after not having a season or a minimal season and truly show their talents. And if a player comes to our open workouts, and does not make the team, atleast they were able to gain some new skills, and get better. If you truly love the game, and coach for the right reason of developing players and not just trophy chasing. At the end of the day it shouldn't matter if that player makes your team or not, you know you invested some time into a player, and helped make them better.
Where did we say we are taking players from open workouts for the rest of our season? Funny how people say guest players for our rostered players to sit the bench and pay tournament fee's. We are not like other teams that have parents pay or fundraise thousands of dollars, only to pick up multiple "guest" players mid season. Not only add multiple "guest" players, but bench their returning rostered players who had been with the team for more than a year, before the 2019-2020 season, for an entire tournament, not getting their returning player one inning of play, one inning on the bump, or a single at bat the entire tournament, but play the "guest" players every inning of every game.
I can say that since we started our open workouts, it seems that our players have been working harder than they ever have. Competition is good for players. Complacency of players that think that since they have a spot, they don't need to work hard to keep that spot can only hurt them. And we all know this happens. When a player says I don't have to try hard in tryouts because i already made the team, my Dad's a coach.
Sorry that Juan is not listed as a coach on spalding's web site but he is a coach there, and that has been verified. His resume speaks for its self.
And finally someone brought up the family comment. If you ever play our team, we usually go out to "Family" before or after every game, and always go out to Family after practice. We have built a family dynamic, that the players don't just play for themselves, but they play for each and every player beside them. We teach life lessons, and how to pick one another up when one is struggling. When the players are together they are a family. And after the games we get together as a family.
If anyone else has any concerns please let me know.

But he said they’re family friendly. Lmao. What a joke. It is obvious that you don’t have a kid on our team and you don’t follow spalding baseball. We are good without you. Thanks for not been with us. We are a family oriented player development organization and you look like a trouble maker. Thanks for poison other teams and not ours.

Sit back and watch the blow-up Oh man, where to start on this one... First, let's not pretend like we don't know the real motivation behind your post, "Recruit." You're probably a coach or tied in parent on a rival team trying to do whatever you can to stop players from coming to our tryout. Nice try, you're full of crap, and here's why: We have 11 kids on our current 12u roster and will be expanding to at least 13-14 kids for 13u. Having kids come to open workouts may find us a guest for the rest of the summer to help save arms, or find someone who we'd like to invite to our tryout. Regarding having different kids at practice... this is all about communication. Our boys know we are looking to add to the team. They also welcome (and CRAVE) the competition. This is what it is going to be like in high school. Every year someone new is gunning for your spot. The sooner the kids get acclimated to this, the better prepared they will be for high school. Regarding having tryouts during the season... Well the one on 7/22 is right before our last week of 12u play in SC and the other 2 are post 12u season. We are looking to convert to the 90' ASAP and plan on having a full August of practices and scrimmages at the 13u level. We intend on entering 6 tournaments in the Fall after Labor Day and also travel south or west in the winter for a tournament. RE:"....just recruiting enough kids to win championships?" This is just a stupid comment. Yes we like to win, but development comes first. Always. If you develop right, you will more than likely win. It is as simple as that. If we want to expand the roster to 13 or more kids, this is all about adding pitching to keep the arms healthy and help introduce the boys to what it will feel like to be on a high school team. Be called on to pinch run, bunt, sit until you pitch, etc... ~Lee Blades Head Coach Gambrills Rising 13u

If Juan is such a great coach why’s he wasting his time on a stupid message board?

Javy
Maybe it's because grown men get on here under fake names, and want to throw jabs at our program and coaches.
It's funny that no one chimes in while a certain team is playing, but as soon as their day is done or before it begins the board goes crazy,

If Juan is such a great coach why’s he wasting his time on a stupid message board? Maybe because this stupid board is telling lies about my name and I take that serious again if you or anyone needs anything to say about me I’m right here. I care about all kids in Maryland and I’m available to all. But right now I decided to help gambrills 12u and yes come and see me I’m sure 100 percent you’ll be impress.
