No one is running Maryland 5 Star and Shawn Miller is the dirtbags director in MD. Miller is a Calvert hall coach and far from a clown.

Who cares about five star and DB. Can we get back to the dumpster fire of 13u GS. Where’s these kids going ? I seen a flyer for this team that said they were elite ? With top notch coaches ? What happened ? Where’s Steve when you need him ? He’s knows everything about youth baseball in Maryland. Sucks for the bottom barrel kids on lake shore. Baseball is over for them most likely.

bet coaches are all calling each other asking about different Lake Shore kids looking for homes. all of the talent left that team before this crap show started, so look for some local teams at 11-12 players to add one of these mid level guys. they will all be 12-13th players who will not get ample playing time, so look for this crap show to spill over into 2021 and the fallout will continue to 14u. maybe some of these new "showcase" teams advertising tryouts at the end of Fall season (which makes no sense) can grab some of them, but I am sure that will be humiliating for big names like d-bags/5 Star/DBat/Mizuno to have sub par teams out there getting smoked by the established local teams.
travel ball in MD is getting so diluted. same with PA & NJ, too many teams calling themselves elite or A level talent, when the truth is, they only have 3-4 studs and the rest is B level talent. there's a few teams around here that are stacked 1-12, but the majority are B teams, especially when they leave MD to play. the 3-4 studs on these true B teams need to wake up and join a true elite level team with high level development and surrounded by comparable talent for their 8th grade year so they hit the ground running in HS playing against kids 2-3 years older.

Hilarious that teams charge for kids to tryout. Typical money grabs. If you are reputable, doing things for the right reasons and it’s not a money grab spend your own money to run a tryout. Such a joke with this nonsense.

Every single showcase program in the country has a tryout fee, which typically $10-$25. They use the money to pay for professional coaches to evaluate players and to pay for facility rental.

Lol. Ok. You’re a joke. “Professional” coaches. I am sure they are there for the big ol $50 fee after expenses paid for a full day. If you are legit you know ex D1 and pro guys that will do as a favor. Not that hard bud. Stop taking money from people. Do it for the right reasons and pay yourself if there is a field rental, etc.

I am a hiring manager and have a job opening at work and will be charging $25 for each applicant. Even though I need the new hire I have expenses to cover so they should pay.

Canes, 5 Star, Top Tier, Team Elite, Dirtbags, and any other top organizations in the country all pay professional scouts or professional (anyone that gets paid to coach = Professional Coach) to run tryouts and evaluate players. You dont think former D1 or pro players should get paid for their time? Sure, some do it for free as a favor, but paying them or at least offering is the proper way to handle business.
These organizations rent out facilities capable of hosting 100 plus players, which is not cheap. Turning on lights at some of these facilities can cost anywhere from $500-$1500 alone.

Name a facility here that costs $500-$1,500. Lol
And you are comparing a 12u tryout to a college application. Hahahahaha, ok.
Still trying to understand the “professional” coach thing. If they are paid as coaches then your player fees cover that. If they are unaffiliated with the organization then I would buttume the “professional” coaches have friends.

Regency Furniture Stadium charges $1000 to turn on their lights. And sorry, someone was comparing job interviews to a 12u tryout, so felt the need to also compare it to college applications.

So I could rent a field at a high school or pay $1k for Regency? I’ll go with Regency.
