So I First want to say we recruited absolutely no one from That the am. The players we have that came from lakeshore to include my own son, left on their own accord and the players parents either contacted Lee or another coach.
The player that came to our team this year gave Lakeshore a shot after Paul stepped down, giving the new coach a shot, and when nothing changed went to the head coach and expressed his concerns and when what he was looking for did not happen, the Father contacted us.
Personally think so many kids returned as they were playing for free as there was so much money left over from not going to Cooperstown.
I can not speak on why others left, and I agree it would of been much better to do before the fall season.
The bottom line and let’s all be honest if you know the team, that ship has be sink after 9U and not having tryouts. Then after 10u the kid w the highest average from previous season leaves.During the 11u season 2 kids leave, after the 11u season 2 more leave.

Just wait til after 5star and dig in have their tryouts here soon. They will get a fair amount of players show up just because of the showcase name.
Don’t know who will take dirtbags as coach on the other hand 5 star is being run by former Mid Atlantic redsox a$$istent coach. Speaking to people in the redsox camp he left in the middle of a semi final game. Don’t know the coach but I hear he is a very good pitching coach.

Dirtbags coach for this age group is Kevin Ryan. Former pro with O's organization.

Dirtbags have 1 good team here and 5 star is a joke. All money grabs so kids can have cool uniforms. Stay with your feeder programs and stop jumping ship.

I just think it’s kind of weird to start up a team just before winter.
You know your taking players from other teams. And teams like Olney only have 10 players (#10strong). And somehow Tommy Rey has managed with just ten the entire fall and done a hell of a job, playing to a 19-1 record and demolishing the team 3 Of his players went to.
I see why the former MARS coach wants to start a new team, as he left MARS.
There’s also the Maryland Redbirds that will also pick up in spring. This is going to be a team to watch out for. They have picked up 3 kids from New York, and the one pitcher is a legit pitcher. He is not afraid to throw any pitch in any count. They will get the Maryland Orioles best player in Michael and then 4 from US Elite to include Teddy Eli and Collin.

Geez Tony sounds like you have some Issues with the two organizations. Both Dirtbags and 5 Star are premier showcase teams in the country. They may not be successful here now, but whether you like it or not, showcase baseball is the future. Dirtbags have gained ground in the Ne and have a standup guy running the organization. The older teams here (14u, 15u, 16u, and 17u) have some of the best players in Maryland, VA, and PA playing for them. The teams are represented by the best private school teams in the DC/Baltimore areas. 5 Stars isn't a hit here in MD but in VA the youth teams have been flourishing, and with the MA Sox coach and team coming over, along with a team formerly with the Delmarva Aces, the 5 Star program will be making strides. The program is being ran by a very well known baseball guy in VA. Yes, local travel programs are still the hot thing to do, but I'd lay some money on the line that most, if given the opportunity, would transition over to one of the showcase teams with a nationally recognized name of given the chance. My sons Olney team did it a few years ago with the Canes.

14U Dirtbags Hard 90 ran by Jim McNally has had Some good success and has had players come from almost five (5) hours away to play. That’s what falling under a premier showcase team does. Parents want their kids to get the absolute most exposure possible.
I just hope it doesn’t get watered down to much here, and become multiple 5star or Dirtbags teams for each age group in MD.

Canes dad, Thanks for your opinion. First off, I have nothing against 5 star or the Dirtbags. The 14u DB team is legit and the only one. The guy running both 5 star and the DB here are clowns and advertise every other day on every social media platform known to man. They are looking for one thing and one thing only a chance to have parents get sold on the National Brand and to stroke a check. I’m talking the Maryland teams and not Virginia since this is a Maryland board but glad you acknowledge the Va teams. And to say the best players around play for them is a joke if you know anything about HS baseball in the state. Name a D1 commit for either in Maryland.

So has Lakeshore 13U folded?
See on the Maryland Youth Travel Baseball Message Board on Facebook that their buttistant coach Ryan Herzberger is looking for a new team.
Very interesting since he’s always preached that if you don’t play for the Graysox you can’t play for Chesapeake High School.
Anyone have any insight?

Also, didn't Jackson Merrill play for one of the 5 Star Mid Atlantic teams coached by Enriquez that was comprised of mostly Calvert Hall kids?

Not sure where you saw that my son was looking for a new team but it is I who said that about GS and CHS (in 9u you have such a great memory!), not my husband. And you have the quote wrong. I have always said that unless your kid is a superstar, they are going to take the kids from the GS. And I didnt want to bank on that. But if there is no team, what choice do we have? I just want my kid to play ball.

[/quote There is another newish Dirtbag organization being run up at Dulaney Valley HS by Calvert Hall, DH and Gilman coaches. 15u-17u teams.
