I by no means am defending Steve’s actions.
There seems to be a lot more to this story than EL PAPI taking Anthony and leaving.
1. Money is next to ussy as the number 1 downfall of all men. 2. With Marucci and this guy from Bigbees paying for all of a Anthony’s travel and equipment EL PaPi may want to watch his sons amateur status. A team can pay for your son to stay in a hotel but by the rule the parents can’t stay in the same room. ( just using as an example)
Wasn’t there another coach that was supposed not to a players house and begged him to come back to his team at 11u a few years Back?? Not saying that coach kicked in a front door but….
Only 2 people know the entire story and that’s EL Gordo Papi and Steve.
Team will get renamed and someone else will take it over.

So i know Steve regrets going there but i know if i was helping someone out financially with a lot of money and that person didnt have the decency to atleast let me know plans to leave and just picked up and left i don't know what i would do either just keeping it real. You think you have a bond with people and other party doesnt There is always more to it and if financials are involved that does create anger and resentment. There is no loyalty in the world anymore and 12U baseball is no different. Parents are always chasing instant gratification and what is best for them not necessarily their kid. There is a lot of money involved. Steve has paid for Papis families Christmas, paid to get his work truck back on the road so he could work and provide for his family, countless hotels, the list goes on. Papi and Steve were actual friends. Don’t think for one second this is over them leaving. Anthony is an awesome baseball player, it’s bound to happen with any team. Players leave. Anthony is ready to do big things. But when someone helps you out time and time again spending thousands, you can atleast have the decency to make a phone call and tell them what’s up. Should he have gone there? No? Should papi have answered the phone and talked to him like a man? Yes Money is always the root of all evil. Steve is a good guy and will help anyone. He was most definitely take advantage of, lesson learned.

Let's be clear...if Anthony wasn't the talent that he is no one would care. Who said they just picked up and left? This was not a fly by night thing regardless of what folks believe. If your reaction would be to go to your former players house drunk then you may have a few screws loose too. Mr agree to a extent. Well i dont drink but i cant say that if i found out about this and i tried calling the other party and they wont take my calls. Yeah i probably would show up. This goes deeper than a player leaving. There is a substantial amount of money involved. Not trying to defend steves actions here but im also gonna take a look at both sides of the situation. At least there is talking and opinions going on and not bashing etc Then sue him. Don't go to the house. Sounds like you are defending. Other options. No excuse for that. Again if he did all those things for the Badillos and they still left seems there is more to it.

However a line was crossed and that action means that team and its reputation will never be the same. Still think there is more to this. Why did Papi choose to leave for everything that he was getting from Steve and kids he had played with for years? Something happened that none of us know about. Agree that there was a different way to go about all of this but none of it justifies the criminal action.

I don't understand how this is being blamed on Wayne plus the things being said about Wayne. 1. Wayne's son has been with DE since maybe 8u? How can you say he hops from team to team? 2. His son wasn't getting the playing time so they left and decided to go to a new team. So what? Should he have stayed and sat on the bench instead? 3. Other DE people went to the team Wayne's son went to. Why does it mean that Wayne made them go? If the DE people were happy at DE they wouldn't leave. Let's see who is actually to blame for this downfall: Example: Steve decides last tournament to bench his players for kids whose families have paid zero dollars towards anything (not the families fault but this is the reality), practiced with the team maybe once and said well they came to the scrimmage on practice day so they get to play over other kids who have been on the team for YEARS! It's that simple Wayne has multiple children #1, you know this Oldest - LS, PBC/ DE, LS, Marucci ( over about 4 years) The younger one- LS, j&t cages, LF, DE , Marucci- all within just a little over a year - He actually tried doing to the same thing to the LS team that he did to DE. Left that team and was going to try to take them with him. So I’m not too surprised to hear he did it again. Wayne 100% made the right move pulling his son off the team, he was on the chopping block as were some of the others that went to Marucci. I would have prob started making moves for my child also if I knew they was struggling to carry their weight on the team. But the right way to go with that move is finish your season, then make moves. You already know why they had guest players for those tournaments- 2 injured players. So they got 2 guest players. Simple Playing time is nothing that is guaranteed with any team. Parents need to understand that. Fair playing time is for rec. you need to earn it with travel ball.

He is moving on to the next team that will support him. No other reason. Maybe also because he couldn’t pay the money back? I do know that tab was always getting higher and higher. No one knows what happened except Papi and Steve that night. Falsifying information is also very criminal. Scary would we live in to know anyone can say you did something and falsify the facts.

Not when my son is better than Johnny!!! How do I know he is better? Because I swing a metal fungo and have coached before!!! Where did you get your experience from? I watch a ton of YouTube videos!!! What is your playing experience? You don’t need to have played to know the game!!! How do you gain credibility with your son? I tell him and his friends that the coach only plays favorites and doesn’t know what he is talking about!!! What happens when your son goes to High School and he doesn’t get equal playing time? I will tell him his coach doesn’t know what he is doing!!!

How can this team stay together after this? What dominos will fall next? The Elkridge & Shockers kid that jumped teams have to be regretting their decisions at this point and looking for a way out. You should not have to worry you're going to be attacked if you choose to leave a team. How many of the other kids parents that were poached by DE had their old coaches kick in their doors? None, it just seems to be a black cloud around DE and parents should be looking to run for the hills. So i know Steve regrets going there but i know if i was helping someone out financially with a lot of money and that person didnt have the decency to atleast let me know plans to leave and just picked up and left i don't know what i would do either just keeping it real. You think you have a bond with people and other party doesnt Papi did reach out to Steve for weeks and he would not talk to Papi because he went to Florida to play after there season was done. He and was mad and avoided all contact with him! Was ok other players guest played as well as bringing on guest players himself. He only cared about one player leaving his star. His fear of not winning trophies

I don’t understand what really happened to the DE kids to want to leave and play for the Bigbiee coach. From my understanding the entire bigbiee team left to play for five star in Delaware. My son has played that team many times and they were really good.! There’s a reason they left and now kids are leaving DE to go there? DE has always seemed to be the best team in our state or top 2 atleast. I hope they figure it out there’s some really great kids on that team/ parents too for that matter.

Just wondering if DE does fundraising. I guess that there is a upcoming financial payment that these kids were trying to avoid? 12u year is very expensive thanks to cooperstown.
