Maybe this has been discussed but seems like there are a lot of teams this spring. What is the real purpose of B and C teams?

Maybe this has been discussed but seems like there are a lot of teams this spring. What is the real purpose of B and C teams? HCYP 12U White. That's the purpose. Sometimes 8/9/10 year old kids are not as big/fast/strong as other kids so they don't make the A team. But if you have a coach who cares about development, and players who put in the work, then that is how your B team can eventually out play the A team, along with many other organizations' A team. As long as you are playing competitive games and focusing on development more than winning, who cares if you are labeled the A team or the B team.

Hcyp white is the only exception for a b team that can now beat their a team. Name another team that their B team competes? Without naming a national team like 5 star. I’ll wait.

More realistically, the B team kids who develop get moved up to an A team somewhere. HCYP is the exception because their team stuck together for the most part.
I'm sure there are hundreds of examples of that, but I'm not about to call out any kids names on here.
How does having B teams negatively affect you or anyone else?

5-Star took over PG Select, so you're right, no A Teams there. Omar has 2025 and 2024 5-Star teams out of Frederick that have a lot of MD kids and they can compete. Juan, Lee, and Tony have a 5-Star team, but that isn't entirely MD kids and they only play down south in bigger tourneys. Usually that roster has about 5-6 kids from MD and then kids from all over.

Maybe this has been discussed but seems like there are a lot of teams this spring. What is the real purpose of B and C teams? Purpose is so kids that love baseball can practice and play more games than rec, have nice uniforms and get to play in some tournaments. In some cases the better kids on the B team are better than a few On the A but for various reasons don’t get picked.

There’s 13 kids from across MD on the 14u 5 star roster. At least one of them doesn’t even start for GAC. Does he have to wear a 3* jersey? Yea but….. How about he came from Gorc and has made huge strides in the few months he’s been with us and I’m sure you will see him starting more and more Come the spring. Kids has a cannon for an arm I would put his work ethic against anyone’s. If your not his parents don’t worry about what the kid does or does not do for us or 5 Star. How about “ hey congrats kid you have made huge strides, went from a weaker to a good team, just keep working your butt off as hard work beats lazy talent every day”!
